VERA ANDERSON-HOGAN (NEE HILL) JOLIET, IL formerly of Schererville, Indiana passed away peacefully at Brookdale Care Center in Joliet, with her loving family by her side. Vera was born April 25, 1927 in Vincennes, Indiana to the late Jesse "Frank" and Hester (Rogers) Hill. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Seth Vernon Anderson in 1986, her second husband Clarence "Pete" Hogan in 2007, son James Anderson in 1996, and Granddaughters Dawn Norwood and Jennifer Anderson. Vera was born April 25, 1927 in Vincennes, Indiana to the late Jesse "Frank" and Hester (Rogers) Hill. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Seth Vernon Anderson in 1986, her second husband Clarence "Pete" Hogan in 2007, son James Anderson in 1996, and Granddaughters Dawn Norwood and Jennifer Anderson. Leaving behind to cherish her memory are her children: Cheryl (the late Richard) Norwood, Michael David Anderson, and daughter-in-law, Kyong Anderson; grandchildren: Rick Norwood, Ryan Norwood, Derek Norwood, Erika Szydlo, Kimberly Perry, Jessica Anderson, Angelica Anderson, Aaron Anderson and Weston Anderson; great grandchildren: Collin, Brynna, Justine, Joseph, Serena, Caden, Ayden, and Nolan; step children: Patricia Crane, Michael Hogan, and Timothy Hogan; many step-grandchildren, and numerous step-great grandchildren. Vera was an Insurance processor at Our Lady of Mercy in Dyer for over 20 years. She was a faithful and active member of Trinity Memorial Church of Merrillville for over 60 years, where she was a Superintendent of their Sunday school. Vera was a very talented seamstress, quilter and cook, and was known for baking her famous Chiffon Cake, and thoroughly enjoyed keeping up with her fitness, especially walking and Pilates. A public visitation for Vera will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, Wednesday, April 27, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
