Charlotte 'Candy' Ellen Ordway, 85, has peacefully passed away on August 1, 2017 in Daytona Beach, Florida, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She was born on June 15, 1932 in Dycusburg, Kentucky to Geneva Ellen (Cooksey) Dycus and Mark Dycus, whom both preceeded in memory. She met the love of her life, Bruce Ordway, at Francis High School in Crittenden County, where she was a cheerleader and he was a basketball player. They eloped at a young age and have been married for 65 wonderful years. She was deeply loved by her family and friends, especially those who have befriended her growing up in Kentucky. Charlotte and Bruce moved to Northwest Indiana to pursue their professional careers, where she became an Account Executive for Illinois Bell until her retirement in 1989. She was also proud to be an active member for the American Legion Post 430 Auxillary Club. Northwest Indiana is where Bruce and Charlotte started a family and raised their 2 children, Faye Renee Connelly and Gregory Bruce (Sharon) Ordway.
Charlotte is survived by her children; 5 grandchildren, April (Rick) Spangler, William (fiancé, Jessica Hammond) Connelly, Brenton (Monica) Connelly, Rebecca Ordway, and Camden Ordway; 6 great-grandchildren, Leah, Devin, Kaylyn, Nolan, Miles and Mathis. They loved her dearly as a grandmother and great grandmother. Throughout her life, Charlotte pursued her passion to travel with her husband and was an avid cruise ship connoisseur. Her husband's favorite thing to do with Charlotte was dance together, which they did anytime they could. She was also a master at the game Pinochle and watched the game show Wheel of Fortune daily. Forever will she be remembered for her timeless beauty, contagious laugh, sense-of-humor, particularlly sharp sailors tongue, sensible consumer knowledge, infamous home-made dishes, and an extraordinary loving heart. She was a one-of-a-kind person and a blessing to many people. She will always be remembered, loved, and definitely missed.
